Below you will find information to answer any questions about parking Downtown. PARKING VIOLATIONSDowntown has numerous options for parking while visiting. At any place where official signs have been placed establishing parking time limits, it shall be unlawful for any person to park in violation thereof. IMPROPER — City Ordinance 29-133-143. These ordinances encompass a number or violations, some of which are not parking within the lines, backing into an angle parking space and parking in a loading zone. HAZARDOUS — City Ordinance 29-145-147. These ordinances cover several violations some of the most common are parking in an intersection, parking across a crosswalk or parking within 30 feet of a stop sign. PARKING VALIDATIONIf you receive an overtime parking ticket while shopping downtown return the parking ticket to the establishment in which you were shopping for validation, business owners are happy help with validations, so please ask! FINESOVERTIME IMPROPER HAZARDOUS $5.00 $10.00 $15.00 FINE DUE IF PAID AFTER 48 HOURS $10.00 $20.00 $30.00 Parking fines are due upon receipt of the ticket. If fines are not paid within 48 hours the amount due increases as outlined above. If a parking ticket is left unpaid a warrant could be issued and a $10.00 warrant charge added to the amount due. Once a warrant is issued the car becomes towable. DISPUTING A TICKETIf you receive a parking ticket and feel it was issued unjustly you may contest it by scheduling a court date to discuss the ticket with the Municipal Judge.
